Who am I
As interviewed
Peter Ullberg is a photographer based in Nacka, Sweden, producing portraits and fine art photographs under the artist name of Anand. He focuses on honest, direct, and soulful images. Growing up in Sweden, Peter Ullberg enjoyed photography and received his first camera from his grandparent at seven years old. Being raised in an environment that welcomed and embraced art, he avidly photographed the beauty of nature. Additionally, he traveled the world visiting art galleries and historical buildings, which only increased his love for capturing beautiful scenes through a camera's lens.
As a young adult, Peter Ullberg studied marketing and retail and produced photographs during his leisure time. Prior to pursuing a photographic career, he spent more than thirty years in the fashion industry with 20 years as a conceptual director in the clothing retail company, H&M. While working in fashion, he collaborated closely with designers and developed various marketing campaigns. His involvement inspired him to run his own marketing agency and worked as a business consultant for a variety of fashion industry clients. As an independent contractor, he had the opportunity to travel the world and enjoy different environments and cultures. However, his commitment to his career did not allow him to pursue his own photographic endeavors. For the last past years with the support of his family, he decided to dedicate his time to photography and began practicing under the name of Anand. Quitting his commercial assignments, he decided to develop his artistic career. By experiencing drastic changes in his personal life, he was able to return to photography.
This new journey directed him in a positive direction of self-awareness and self-understanding and led him through a process of soulful and inner self-searching. By embarking on this course to figure out who he truly was, he decided to pursue his passion.
Through his rediscovered passion, Peter Ullberg now documents people’s stories and emotions with his artistic visions. He considers photography to be a therapeutic process for him and the the person being photographed, a process which helps him reveal the inner emotions of a person. Furthermore, he shares the surrounding beauty and highlights the magnificent expressed by the human form. His images share his findings through his camera lens, through the fleeting moments he captures.
The body of work of Anand finds inspirations from everyday people’s stories, from behind their everyday facade, and from how they brand themselves to the public. Anand views the human body as exciting and beautiful. Additionally, he believes that multiple stories come through from the postures, auras, and expressions of a person. All these characteristics are only exalted by the human form which provides a vulnerable yet universal condition.
Some of his current achievements as a photographer include having his work exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout Sweden. Established and emerging photographers influence Anand’s work. Though he mainly uses digital equipment, he does plan to use analog photography in his future creative endeavors. Furthermore, he strives to one day have his work influence how art can serve therapeutically.
Peter Ullberg enjoys living in the emotional state of being between life and death that his work provides by capturing meetings, interactions, and exchanges of energies
As gratitude to Master Osho and my friends at Baravara and Osho Risk who helped me open my doors into creativity and loving kindness I share this quote:
"And that is the essence of wisdom-to pray in harmony with nature, with the natural rhythm of the universe. And Whenever you are in harmony with the natural rhythm of the universe, You are a poet, you are a painter, you are a musician, you are a dancer." Osho
