From despair to humility

When Ann, at the age of 50, experienced her fourth relapse of breast cancer, she was overwhelmed by anxiety, worry, and a deep sense of loneliness. To give this difficult phase of life deeper meaning and a more compassionate perspective on herself, she chose to do something more than just endure the illness. Together with photographer Peter Anand Ullberg, she embarked on a therapeutic photography project that spanned two years.

"I had never planned to exhibit the photos – they were meant to help me process my situation. But over time, I've realized that they might help others. We have much to gain by being present in difficult moments, daring to talk about them, and showing our emotions. By releasing resistance, we can grow and embrace life more fully. Our intention with the exhibition is to share life openly – both our light and strength, but also our vulnerabilities, such as illness and other challenges," says Ann.
